This is a picture of an attic at the beginning of one of our jobs.  This home in Huntingtown, MD was struggling to keep cool and was noticing how often the Air Conditioning was running but how little it was helping to cool the home.  The homeowner called Complete Home Solutions to have an Auditor come out to the home to try and pinpoint the major problem areas and what could be done to fix it. Our Home Comfort Specialist found the attic was not properly air sealed and the current insulation wasn't up to the proper R-value. To fix this home our production crew came out and air sealed all the top plates, the gable wall, around the duct work and around any recessed light fixtures. Once everything was air sealed our crew then blew in the new Cellulose Insulation until it reached the recommended R-value. The attic is now properly sealed -- meaning all the cold air the air conditioner is producing is no longer leaking out of the home through the attic!  The after photo shows the attic with the new insulation installed!

This rear cantilever area of a home in Huntingtown, MD was not properly air sealed.  The homeowners complained of cold floors and asked for advice on how to fix this problem.  As you can see from the before picture - the cantilever had no insulation and was not sealed at all.  The cantilever was leaking air into the home which was the reason the floors were so cold.  Our crews removed the soffit from the cantilever and air sealed the joist cavities with our 1/2" polyiso foam board, SilverGlo, and spray form.  Then we installed R-19 Fiberglass batt insulation in the joist cavities and Reinstalled the soffit.  The picture below shows the cantilever after it was air sealed and before the fiberglass batts were installed.  The homeowners were happy that we were able to determine the problem and help them fix it. 

This homeowner in Huntingtown, Maryland was worried about this upcoming winter. They were nervous because every winter meant cold rooms and astronomical utility bills for them. They got into contact with Complete Home Solutions this year, and it may have been the best decision they ever made.

There was not nearly enough insulation up there, and what was there was old and worn out. All of their warm air was just escaping up and out of the attic. We start of by clearing out the old insulation, we then air seal any attic penetrations that may be allowing air to leak out, and we then install our TruSoft Cellulose insulation. Now that we have properly weatherized this house's attic, the homeowners no longer have to dread winter!

This family was a military family. They moved around a lot, but always made wherever they ended up feel like home. That's why they were concerned when they started their next adventure here in Huntingtown, Maryland. After having only lived in their home for a short while, they already began to notice quite a few drafts and their furnace constantly running. They decided to look up a professional in their area to help make their new home comfortable.

This Homeowner called Complete Home Solutions becuase they were experiencing much colder temperatures in the upstairs of their home in the wintertime.  They were very UNCOMFORTABLE in their bedrooms and told us that they often used electric blankets to keep themselves warm.  We found that this attic had little to no insulation and had never been air sealed to prevent heat loss.  The result was an extremely drafty and uncomfortable home!  This homeowner also mentioned they were not too fond of the utility bill either since it was taking more energy to properly heat the home. 

Complete Home Solutions installed an insulated storage deck to provide access in the attic area for storage, air sealed the attic floor to prevent air leakage and installed a thick blanket of blown cellulose insulation. 

The result an extremely Happy Homeowner, who now can sleep at night in comfort and peace of mind knowing they are saving money on their utility costs!
