This home in Prince Frederick, MD was experiencing drafty rooms and the homeowner knew that their current insulation might be old and may need to be replaced. The homeowner contacted Complete Home Solutions to have a home energy audit performed to see what other problem areas might exist besides the attic insulation. Our Home Comfort Specialist conducted multiple tests on the home and found that the attic wasn't properly sealed and the current insulation wasn't doing its job (it was uneven and in clumps and air was still leaking through unsealed holes from the downstairs through the attic). The homeowners chose to have the attic air sealed preventing unwanted air and hot or cold temperatures in through the attic. After everything was air sealed, our crew then blew in TruSoft Cellulose Insulation appropriate for this temperature zone.
After the work was completed the homeowner was very satisfied and felt an immediate impact and no longer suffered from drafty rooms!
This homeowner in Prince Frederick, Md was noticing very cold floors and drafty rooms during the winter and wasn't sure what could be causing this. The homeowner called Complete Home Solutions to have a professional consultation to help pinpoint what was causing these issues. Our home comfort specialist found that the crawl space wasn't properly sealed and the reason for the cold and drafty rooms was the air entering the crawl space and rising up into the house. To resolve this concern, our Production Crew came in and installed a vapor barrier which sealed the crawl space from letting in air, moisture, and water from outside. The crew removed all the old fiberglass insulation and air sealed the rim and band before replacing all the old fiberglass insulation with new insulation!
The homeowner noticed an immediate difference in the temperature of the home and was very happy that we had the solutions to their comfort issues!
Here in Prince Frederick, Maryland we have a homeowner who was plagued by cold winter air slipping in and chilling up her house. She was annoyed with having to constantly change the thermostat and blast the space heater. Luckily, Complete Home Solutions was able to put an end to that.
An energy audit revealed that the attic played a major role in this home's discomfort! As home performance experts, our production staff knew how to correct the attic to perform at an optimum level. We air sealed all attic penetrations, installed blown-in cellulose insulation, and insulated the attic hatch opening. Now, our homeowner will be nice and toasty for the winter!
This attic had no insulation to shield the home form environmental factors making the interior drafty and uncomfortable. The floored attic space was great for storage, but the insufficient insulation levels were causing significant heat loss. Essentially the heat they were paying for was rising straight up and out of the house, making them very Uncomfortable. The homeowner decided that enough was enough and contacted Complete Home Solutions to look for a solution.
We recommended removing the storage platform. Storing items in uncontrolled spaces is never a good idea. They often become damaged or warm from the uncontrolled temperatures. Blown cellulose insulation was decided to be the best fit for this attic providing it with a strong thermal barrier.
The homeowner now has a more efficient and comfortable home while saving on the cost of their utility bill.
While you can't tell from the old insulation and all the dirt and debris, Both of these pictures are looking at the same wall in the crawl space in this Prince Frederick, MD home. Cheyanne lives in a waterfront community, and in the summer moisture and humidity take over her home. She took the right first steps by calling Complete Home Solutions to assess the problem, and after a full evaluation of the home, our Home Comfort Specialist recommended a Crawl Space Encapsulation. On the day of the encapsulation, our Home Comfort Technicians began by removing the old vapor barrier and insulation from the crawl space., this provided an empty area to begin the transformation. They then installed our Clean space vapor barrier which when bolted to the walls of the crawl space creates a seal that prevents any moisture or pest from entering the crawl from below. Following the installation of the vapor barrier, our Technicians used a 2 part closed cell spray foam to insulate and seal the walls. This process restricts any air from coming through the vents or cinder blocks in the crawl. The final step of this encapsulation is to install a dehumidifier that regulates the humidity to a consistent 50-55%.
Following the work, Cheyanne could not be happier with the look or performance of her new crawl space and has already noticed a difference in the temperature of her home.
