This homeowner switched out their old insulation to add blown-in cellulose insulation.
This Georgian Colonial home in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland is breathtakingly beautiful both inside and out. The homeowner has always meticulously cared for her home...except for one important area, the attic. You may not ever see the attic, and it's certainly not pretty, but its maintenance is essential. When she contacted Complete Home Solutions, we informed her about how she was wasting a lot of energy and money trying to heat her big beautiful, house because of her attic.
We gave her a Home Energy Audit to get more specifics about what was going on. The important part, though, was how we could fix this problem. The two most important services that we provided included air sealing any attic penetrations, the ductwork that was up there, and installing TruSoft Cellulose insulation. Now that we have made these upgrades, the homeowner has both a beautiful and comfortable home to live in!
This customer had a BGE Quick Home Energy Check Up (QHEC), where they told her that investing in air sealing and insulation for her attic would save her a lot with her utility bills. She searched BGE's website to find a trustworthy company to do this and found us.
We were able to make this home much more energy efficient through a few different measures. We air sealed the attic (with caulk, spray foam, and foam board), blew in cellulose insulation, and installed an attic fan.
This homeowner was interested in having insulation installed in her attic. She knew that she was losing a lot of energy because of her attic and needed a good company to do the job for her. Luckily, she found Complete Home Solutions.
After evaluating her house for efficiency and comfort, we informed her how insulation itself won't do everything that you want. You need to have your attic air sealed if you truly want an efficient home. That's exactly what we did. The air sealing and cellulose insulation effectively worked together to provide this customer with a controlled home environment.
This home had very old insulation in the attic (and no air sealing). That's why it comes as no surprise that the homeowner suffered through such extreme temperature differences throughout the house. Summers and winters were especially brutal! CHS was able to make some upgrades that would resolve these problems.
We had to remove the old insulation (you can see how worn it was from the extreme discoloration in the picture), caulk all the floor boards and joists, and apply blown-in cellulose insulation. The end result is a much more comfortable house that is costing the owner less.
