This homeowner in Endicott, NY had stucco siding which limited options for insulation, but the attic of this Cape Cod home was in terrible shape insulation wise as the old insulation batts had fallen down from the slopes of the attic and into the small side attics. This left the homeowners very cold due to the inadequate and old insulation in the home.
For this home, we sprayed 4 inches of closed cell spray foam on the side attic walls, the gable ends with 2 inches of closed cell spray foam, and 2 inches of closed cell spray foam in the rim joists. We also did an open blow of cellulose insulation to the flat of the attic and dense packed the slopes of the attic as well. This will help insulate the home so the warm air isn't escaping through the roof of the home.
This Endwell, NY home had been vacant for quite some time before these homeowners purchased in the fall. As the new homeowners began to remodel the home, they discovered there was no insulation in the walls of the home which prompted them to call us for a free Home Comfort Evaluation. Our evaluation showed that there was insufficient insulation throughout the attic, rim joists as well as basement walls.
The first thing we did was work in the attic. We air sealed all gaps, cracks, around wire penetrations and light fixtures then did an open blow of our TruSoft cellulose insulation into the attic flat. 18 inches of cellulose was blown in to give these homeowners adequate insulation in the attic space of their home.
For the walls of the home, we carefully removed the vinyl siding, drilled holes in the home so we could fit our hoses to dense pack our TruSoft cellulose insulation into the wall cavaties. Once the cavaties were packed with insulation, we carefully plugged the holes with cedar wood plugs and sealed around them before replacing the siding as carefully as it was removed.
The basement was composed of poured concrete walls, causing the basement to run very cold in the winter months. We proposed to help dry out the basement as well by installing our SaniDry Sedona machines to help keep the basement dry and we installed our Basement to Beautiful panels composed of graphite infused foam board.
This home became a much more comfortable home once we completed the work, and the homeowners were very happy with the work that we had completed.
This Endicott, NY homeowner wanted his crawl space attended to.
For this job, we installed our entire CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation. We first rolled out our Drainage Mat, which allows water to still flow beneath the CleanSpace without allow the vapors to come through the crawl space into the home. We then laid down our TerraBlock on top of the Drainage mat, then carefully unrolled our CleanSpace vapor barrier and up the walls a few inches of the crawl space. We then adhered the CleanSpace to the walls with our Closed Cell Spray Foam to create a tight barrier, and ensure that the CleanSpace won't slip out of place.
This homeowner in Endicott, NY had an issue with his bedroom and called us for help. His bedroom sat above the garage, which resulted in being extremely cold during the winter, and very hot in the summer and wanted to have this issue resolved once and for all.
We used 3 inches of our closed cell spray foam to the garage ceiling to help alleviate the issues with the bedroom. The spray foam prevents air from being sucked in through the floor of the bedroom, affecting the temperature of the room.
We also concentrated on the attic space. There was some fiberglass batts, with blown insulation over top - however, no air sealing had been done so air was still escaping through the ceiling and out the roof. We air sealed, and added an additional 6 inches of our cellulose insulation.
These homeowners in Johnson City, NY were repeat customers. We had previously air sealed their attic and basement rim joists and they were extremely happy with the work we had done. The basement was currently being finished off by the homeowners for some extra space for when family comes to stay and visit.
The walls of the basement were half framed already, and we sprayed 3 inches of our Closed Cell Spray Foam to the walls of the addition for adequate insulation for the basement room addition.
