The owner of this home in Minneapolis, MN had issues with pools of water in their crawl space. Their pipes had frozen over many times, and they were becoming frustrated with the issue. In hopes of finding a solution, the homeowner reached out to DBS.
Design Specialist Henry Jungbaur went to the property to conduct a free no-obligation estimate. After a thorough inspection, Henry noticed that there was a lot of DIY plumbing work that was done underneath the home, and whoever did it had obviously not done any of it correctly. He informed the homeowner about our Crawl Space Encapsulation service and mentioned that it may help their living spaces feel warmer, and protect their crawl space from more water damage.
Foreman Nicholas Woods II led the installation of this project with help from a crew. Together the crew sprayed closed-cell polyurethane spray foam on the interior walls of the crawl space to air seal and insulate. Next, they created a better drainage field in the crawl space by leveling out the dirt in some areas and installed a SmartDrain® for water removal. Finally, they installed a layer of CleanSpace® water vapor barrier to complete the system.
Now that the crawl space has been encapsulated, the homeowner can relax with peace of mind knowing that their crawl space will stay warmer and drier.

Foreman Jason Foster led the installation of this project with assistance from a crew. Together they installed a WaterGuard® french drain system, CleanSpace®, and a new sump pump. The WaterGuard® system was installed by placing drains into trenches that were jackhammered around the interior perimeter of the basement. The drains collect water and dump it into the SuperSump® pump so water can be expelled out and away from the home. To finish the project, CleanSpace®, a thick white poly vapor barrier, was placed over the walls to seal the space.
Now that the home has been properly waterproofed, the homeowners can relax peacefully in their happy, healthy home.
