Crawl Space Encapsulation in Lothian, MD

William's home in Lothian, MD was experiencing comfort issues throughout the first floor. In the winter the floors would be cold, impacting the overall temperature of the first floor. And in the summer it seemed to constantly be damp and humid. William took the right first step by calling Complete Home Solutions to assess the problem. Upon arrival, our trained Home Comfort Specialist began his analysis in the crawl space of the home, where he discovered several key indicators of William's uncomfortable first floor. With cracks along the exterior walls of the crawl space as well as insulation that was in pretty rough shape, it was easy to determine that this was the source of the comfort problems.

On the day of the installation, our crew began by removing all of the old batt insulation from the floor joist above, before laying down our 20mill CleanSpace vapor barrier, which when bolted to the wall creates a seal on the ground of the crawls space, making sure moisture and critters can not make their way in from below. They then sprayed the area with our 2 part closed cell spray foam insulation to all of the exterior walls. The final step to this encapsulation was to install a dehumidifier which was set to a consistent 50-55% humidity. William noticed an immediate difference in the floor temperature of his home and cant wait to see the difference as the weather outside begins to change.

Attic Insulation in Lothian, MD

Eric called Complete Home solutions after another year of uncomfortable conditions in his Lothian, MD home. In the winter Months Eric struggles to keep it warm, and in the hot summer months, the upstairs is unbearable.  Following a Home Energy Audit, conducted by one of our trained Home Comfort Specialist, it was determined that the condition of the home's attic was the main culprit in the home's uncomfortable home. On the day of the job, our Home Comfort Technicians began air sealing the attic with fire block spray foam.  The spray foam is applied to our recessed light covers, top plates, and any outlets in the attic to ensure that the air you pay to heat or cool stays in the living space of your home. The next step in this attic was to vent the bath fans out through the roof. If your fans are not vented properly, it can create moisture issues in your attic. The final step of this attic project was to blow in new Cellulose insulation, which creates a 16 inch barrier between the attic condition and the rest of your home. As you can see in this picture, we install rulers throughout the attic to show our customers just how much of a difference our insulation makes. Eric noticed an immediate difference, even in mild temperatures, and can't wait to see how his house performs in the hot and humid summer months ahead.

New Cellulose Attic Insulation in Riva, MD

This homeowner in Riva, Maryland knew that their home was not going to be keeping them warm this winter. They felt like they could never manage to keep everybody warm (often times resorting to piles of blankets and space heaters). They got into contact with Complete Home Solutions to help them with their problem!

After a home energy audit, this is what we told them. During the cold winter months, you do not want an attic like this. What you can see is the old insulation that was already there (that insulation is NOT doing a very good job keeping the home comfortable). What you can't see are the bottom floor boards and rim joists that lack any type of air sealing. We fixed those problems (while installing our cellulose insulation) and gave the homeowner a warm, comfortable home for this winter season!

Attic Insulation Project in Riva, MD

This customer had a common area in the upstairs portion of her house. She wished she could use it more, but it was so uncomfortable that it made it hard to stay there for too long. Hoping to find a solution for her uncomfortable room, this homeowner looked for someone to come out and diagnose her problem. She heard about Complete Home Solutions and our great reputation from a friend and decided to give us a try.

Our Home Comfort Specialist found the problem when he took a trip up into the attic. He found some insulation that was rather old and had big gray spots (indicating air leakage). He brushed aside the insulation to see what the floor of the attic looked like...it was barren. This would explain why our customer's room was so uncomfortable - there was way too much air flow happening in the attic. With some caulk, spray foam, and blown in cellulose insulation, we were able to fix this attic. Now this homeowner can hang out or entertain all she wants in her upstairs living room!
