This home in Bryans Road, Maryland was really unprepared for the cooler weather that we were going to get this winter. The homeowner and his family were annoyed by the constant cold drafts that they kept feeling throughout the house. Complete Home Solutions was able to provide this family with solutions that would keep them warm.
The biggest issue we found with this house was the attic. When you don't have air sealing and you don't have enough good insulation, you are basically allowing for your warm air to escape up and out through your attic. If we can stop that, we can give you a much more comfortable home.
This homeowner from Mount Rainier, Maryland noticed that his master bedroom was always freezing cold, especially the floors. He needed advice on how to change this. So, he called up Complete Home Solutions.
After an energy audit, we determined that there was a crawl space beneath the master bedroom that was causing it to be so cold. The walls had some insulation in them, but it was not actually blocking any air movement. In order to do that, we needed to install spray foam over the walls. Doing this has created a much more comfortable and energy efficient home!
This client had heard a radio ad discussing the great benefits that an energy efficient home can have for its homeowner. Thinking about how his home was probably under-performing (based on his utility bills and lack of insulation in his attic), he did a little research. He found Complete Home Solutions and, after viewing our extensive experience, chose us as to make his home more efficient.
After performing a home energy audit, our home comfort specialist found quite a few opportunities for improvement (the attic being the main one). This home had a flue pipe that went through the attic; it wasn't properly sealed and was, therefore, causing a lot of air leakage (decreasing the efficiency of the home). We sealed the pipe and constructed a non-flammable barrier around it to prevent insulation contact. We also air sealed along all the rim and band joists in the attic and replaced the old, gunky insulation with fresh cellulose. Now this home is efficient and comfortable for the homeowner too!
Proper sealing of air ducts allows adequate airflow throughout the home. a lack of dealing on the air ducts allows air to escape before it reaches the living spaces of the home.
The homeowners of this house in Berwyn Heights, Maryland noticed that there wasn't proper ir flow coming from their air vents. The homeowners called Complete Home Solutions to find the source of the problem. Our Auditor determined that the problem was air leaking from the ducts. Our Production Team sealed the ducts to prevent further air leakage and allowing the proper air throughout the home.
Ben bought his College Park, MD home last year and noticed immediately that the upstairs of the home was much harder to keep comfortable than the main level or basement. Following an inspection from one of our Home Comfort Specialist, it was determined that the insulation level was well below current standards, and no air sealing to speak of, that this was a primary source for air leakage and uncomfortable temperatures throughout the rest of the house. On the day of the job, our Home Comfort technicians began by moving the old insulation to properly air seal the attic, which prevents conditioned air from escaping the living space of your home. We use our fire block foam the seal top plates, recessed lights, drywall seams, and attic hatches to make sure there are no spots for air to escape. The next step was to blow in new cellulose insulation to make sure the attic was properly insulated to 18inches all the way around.
Ben noticed an immediate difference following the upgrades, and can't wait to see the drop in his energy usage, from the improvements made.
