With the intention of finishing their basement, this Portland, ME, homeowner wanted to address the puddles that form when it rains. They reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems and met with System Design Specialist Jordan Tarbox to discuss waterproofing solutions for their basement. WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter, with the CleanSpace Wall System attached. Water is directed to a TripleSafe Sump Pump, which pushes it out through an exterior discharge line that’s buried underground, keeping it out of sight and directing it to a location where it will no longer be an issue. The homeowner is now able to finish their basement without the risk of water damage, saving money and protecting the health of their home.
Since 2012, this Portland, ME, homeowner has had a problem with their foundation shifting and moisture in the basement creating a musty smell. Worried about air quality and the health of their home, they booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems for help. System Design Specialist Lou DiStasio met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a system that would save their home and create a safter basement.
The shifting foundation needed to be addressed first, and to take care of it, StableLock was installed to save the foundation. Over time, stone foundations break apart and shift, resulting in an unstable home and sinking floors that could ultimately result in the foundation totally failing. Typically, with a failing foundation, the home would need to be lifted for a period of time in order for the old foundation to be removed and a new one poured. With StableLock, not only do homeowners save money, but they don’t have to move out of their house, and SableLock can be completed in just a few days. StableLock fills the voids in the old wall and uses modern concrete forming and shoring methods to stabilize the old wall, leaving a new, smooth foundation wall. With StableLock installed and the foundation stabilized, the next step was to address the moisture issues of the basement. To maintain a safe level of humidity and prevent mold and musty smells, a SaniDry Sedona was installed with a Condensate Pump so the homeowner won’t have to ever empty a bucket of water. Not only does this keep the SaniDry Sedona running as needed, but the homeowner can travel without concern of their dehumidifier not working. Now the home is protected against moisture, and their foundation is no longer at risk of failing and is stronger than before.
This Portland, Maine basement had an old sump pump that was running constantly and could not keep up. We upgraded it to our TripleSafe sump pump system, which has two Zoeller pumps and a third battery backup pump. The TripleSafe can handle over 6,000 gallons of water per hour in high capacity events. We also installed WaterGuard, our perimeter drainage system, to collect any water seeping in from the walls and then channel it to the TripleSafe.
Portland, ME homeowners contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate to waterproof their basement. They were dealing with continual flooding issues and were tired of having to clean up a wet mess. System Design Specialist Stephen C. helped them come up with the best plan to address their water woes.
We installed CleanSpace Wall System which acts as a vapor barrier to keep moisture out. The CleanSpace connects to WaterGuard to help channel any water to the SuperSump Plus system. The SuperSump removes water from the basement through an exterior buried discharge line away from the home.
After living in their Portland, ME home for three years, this homeowner decided it was time they upgraded from the small sump they got from a hardware store when they moved in. Our crew got to work on their basement by rounding out the existing sump hole and installing a SuperSump system in the floor. This new pump will output at a rate of over 2,600 gallons of water per hour. This water exits the basement through a PVC discharge line where it passes through an IceGuard pipe segment on the exterior of the home. Now the homeowner can be sure their sump will keep their basement floor dry during exceptionally heavy rainfall.
