Dirt Floor No More in Rumford, ME Basement
Rumford, ME homeowners contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems for help with their wet basement with dirt floors. They were tired of dealing with a muddy mess every time water came into the basement. System Design Specialist Sam C. created a plan to solve their water woes.
First we poured a new concrete slab floor to cover the dirt flooring. WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of the basement to channel water to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump system. The TripleSafe features two Zoeller sumps and a battery-powered backup. The TripleSafe drains water out of the basement and through an Exterior Buried Discharge line that is protected against ice buildup in the winter with IceGuard. CleanSpace Wall System was installed to act as a vapor barrier where needed and channel any additional moisture from the walls to the WaterGuard. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed to control the moisture in the space. SprayFoam insulation was added to the rim joists to create an air tight seal and protect against moisture.

WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of the basement that will channel the water to a TripleSafe Sump Pump. The water must go somewhere so the TripleSafe is connected to an exterior Discharge Line that is buried so it is out of sight and out of mind. Now the homeowner can remodel their basement and enjoy the space without concern.

Water on Your Basement Floor

System Design Specialist John Wright worked with the homeowner to design a system specific to this basement that would protect the health of the home and prevent the homeowner from having to mop water off the floors.
WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of the basement with TrenchDrain at high-traffic areas. TrenchDrain allows all water to be channeled into the system, where it flows to a TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe Sump Pump is connected to an exterior Buried Discharge Line with an IceGuard to prevent ice from building up during cold months, ensuring the system works year-round without issue.
The homeowner can now hang the squeegee up and use their basement for storage.
