Crawl Space Encapsulation in Laurel, DE 19956

To address the customer's concerns about dust, allergens, mold, and odors in their home, as well as issues with the dryer exhaust, we implemented a comprehensive set of solutions that significantly improved the indoor air quality and overall comfort.

Dust & Allergens:

  • We began by providing our Platinum Air Duct Cleaning Service, thoroughly cleaning both the return and supply ducts, as well as the condenser and evaporator coils. This deep cleaning helps to remove dust, allergens, and other contaminants that can circulate through the home.
  • To further enhance air quality, we sealed the ductwork using Aeroseal technology from the inside, ensuring that conditioned air is properly contained and preventing leaks.
  • We also replaced any damaged flex ducts to ensure optimal airflow and cleanliness.
  • Additionally, we installed a Breathe EZ UVC Light in the furnace, which works to neutralize airborne pathogens, reducing allergens and improving overall air quality.

Crawl Space Improvements:

  • In the crawl space, we removed moldy and damaged insulation from the ceiling, treating the area with Mold-X Neutralizer to eliminate any existing mold.
  • To enhance insulation and prevent future moisture issues, we sealed and insulated the rim joists with SilverGlo™ insulation and one-part foam.
  • We then installed the CleanSpace™ Encapsulation System, including drainage matting, TerraBlock™ floor insulation, and SilverGlo™ insulation on the walls. This system creates a sealed and insulated environment, preventing moisture intrusion and mold growth.
  • To maintain a dry and healthy crawl space, we installed the SaniDry™ Sedona Crawl Space Air System, which efficiently controls humidity and keeps the air clean.

Dryer Exhaust:

  • We also replaced the damaged or improper dryer exhaust, ensuring safe and efficient venting.

The customer was able to take advantage of the Energize Delaware Rebate, making these critical home improvements even more affordable. As a result, the home is now significantly healthier, with reduced dust and allergens, a clean and dry crawl space, and a properly functioning dryer exhaust system.

Making a home in Eden, Maryland warmer in the winter

When homeowners in Eden, Maryland noticed their home becoming more and more uncomfortable as the winter season approached, they knew they had to do something about their issue. After finding Dr. Energy Saver online, they gave us a call.

We came out and observed the attic, which had very little insulation up there. This causes the air you're paying to keep the house heated or cooled depending on the time of the year to be dispersed throughout the home, seep into the attic, and then leaving into the outdoors of your home.

Dr. Energy Saver came out and removed what insulation was left, sealed any air penetrations inside of the attic, and then re-insulating the attic. This will keep the home more comfortable not only in the winter, but in the summer time too!

Crawlspace encapsulation in Delmar, DE

Bryan noticed that some water had leaked in over the liner in the fully encapsulated crawl space of his family’s home.  This wasn’t good news but to make the problem worse it also damaged the ductwork in the crawl space.

He called a company that quoted a price to put in a new liner and replace the damaged ductwork. The only problem was after arrival the price originally quoted kept getting higher and higher.  At one point the company said they couldn’t even complete all the original work that had been agreed upon.

At Lawson’s we hate to hear these stories, but we were happy that on a recommendation from a coworker, Bryan called us.  While we can’t always foresee every issue we come across, we do our best to do a thorough inspection and account for any sort of difficulties that may arise.  In Bryan’s case everything was VERY straightforward.

After a thorough inspection we walked Bryan through the steps to fixing his crawl space.  In this case we were focusing on two items:  (1) Fixing his ground water issues, and (2) controlling the moisture level in the crawl space.

On inspection the amount of standing water was alarming so we recommended not only a sump but a full interior perimeter drainage system.  The family plans on staying in the home a long time and wants to make sure that there are no issues again with the ductwork or that mold and microbial growth don't occur.  (A drainage system only takes care of the standing water, not necessarily moisture/high humidity.)  So we also installed our Clean Space antimicrobial liner and a dehumidifier.

We rarely are the least expensive quote when it comes to the work we do, but we were glad that Bryan and his family saw the value in a permanent fix to their problem.  As we already mentioned, we can't forsee every challenge we come across, but like in most of our contracts, the price originally quoted was the price Bryan ended up paying, no hidden or surprise charges.

Air Sealing a Rim Joist in Lincoln, DE

Air sealing an area with spray foam is an effective way to not only insulate it but to also prevent any air leakage which causes energy loss. Dr. Energy Saver Delmarva has done just that to the rim joists in this Lincoln, DE home.

Attic Insulation Upgrade in Lincoln, DE

Despite putting an extra layer of batted fiberglass insulation in the attic bringing the R-value up to 38, this Lincoln, DE homeowner still had issues with comfort at home and high energy bills.  Here, Dr. Energy Saver Delmarva has upgraded this attic from the standard batted fiberglass insulation, which still allows the flow of air through it, to blown in cellulose insulation. This cellulose will not only prevent the flow of air but it has also been installed to an R-value of 60 which will make this homeowner much more comfortable as well as cutting down for the cost of heating and air for the home.
