There were severs drafts coming through the knee-walls of this Alexandria, VA home. Comfenergy used closed cell spray foam to air seal and insulate them to stop these drafts.
This Alexandria, VA home had a tremendous amount of air drafting through the knee-wall/storage space. Comfenergy used Thermax foam boards to air seal and insulate them. Thermax is used in storage areas due to its ability to also provide a fire resistant flame barrier per code.
The following before/after pictures are from a knee-wall in Alexandria, VA that we encapsulated with closed cell spray foam. This made the top floor warmer in the winter, and cooler in the summer....plus lessens draftiness on this level of the home.
This Alexandria VA home had several small space like the one shown here which were being used for storage. These "Knee walls" were allowing hot air into the connected rooms causing comfort issues for the home owners. In the colder months there would be cold air coming in. We removed the existing insulation panels which were too thin, not air sealed and insufficient. We installed Foamax wall insulation panels, air sealed them with ZypFoam to prevent the movement or air in between the panels and then covered them with CleanSpace seam tape to make the space look clean and usable. this will improve the comfort in the connected rooms and control the temperature inside of the space.
Closed cell spray foam was used to insulate the exterior walls of this basement remodeling project in Alexandria, VA.
