This International Falls home was built in the early 2000s. Although the crawl space was fit with fiberglass batting, it wasn't enough to prevent the sump pump and pipes from freezing during the winter months.
DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home to provide a thorough inspection of the crawl space. He provided a free estimate for a new insulation plan including our closed-cell spray foam. The homeowners decided to move forward with the plan and our Dr. Energy Saver Team got to work!
Nick Woods II and his crew began by removing the existing fiberglass batting. From there, they applied closed cell spray foam to the vertical crawl space walls. Our foam insulation expands as it's applied, air sealing and insulating.
The homeowners were happy with the work done and now have an insulated crawl space to protect their home from cold winter temperatures.

Foreman Nick Woods II led the installation of this project. Nick and his team first installed a layer of drainage matting to help with the flow of moisture underneath the insulation. Next, they laid down panels of TerraBlock™ insulation, a durable thermal and moisture barrier. Finally, they installed the last layer, a thick poly sheet material to seal off the crawl space.
The crawl space has been properly insulated, and the owners will experience a more comfortable environment and also gain dry storage space.
