Owners of this Courderay, WI cabin dreamt of using their space year-round. With some signs of settling in the foundation and cold floors in the wintertime, they were interested in learning more about our crawl space encapsulation service.
DBS Design Specialist Steve LaFontaine visited the home to provide a free, no-obligation estimate for the project. He assessed the structural concerns, as well as the crawl space. He worked with the cabin owners to design a plan that would increase their year-round comfort and maintain their property value for years to come.
DBS Foreman Nick Burley led this crawl space project. He and his team installed 4 SmartJack® support beams in order to restore the cabin to a level position. From there, they installed our 3-layer system for crawl space encapsulation. First, drainage matting to eliminate moisture buildup, TerraBlock™ crawl space insulation, and CleanSpace® vapor barrier. These three products work together to fully protect the crawl space and condition spaces around them from the effects of cold air and moisture.
Owners recently purchased this 1960s home in Saginaw, MN. They noticed immediately that propane costs were high and that ice dams were present on the roof. Wanting to save energy and make their home more comfortable, they contacted DBS for a free, no-obligation estimate for the work.
DBS Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer visited the home and provided an inspection and thorough estimate for the attic insulation project. To prevent any leaking from ice dams in the future, Henry suggested air sealing the attic floor and re-insulating it. DBS Foreman Nick Woods II lead the attic insulation crew. They added Tru-Soft™ cellulose to the attic after air sealing, to provide a solid radiant barrier. This will, in turn, prevent warm air from escaping from the living space through the attic. This insulation method also prevents the space from heating up too much during the summer months.
The homeowners were happy with the work our insulation crew did and now have a solid solution to stand up to cold Minnesota winters.
These Duluth, MN homeowners had been living in the space for 2 years before tackling their attic insulation. They knew the insulation would need updating upon purchasing the home, so to save energy and make their home more comfortable, they contacted DBS for a free, no-obligation estimate for the work.
DBS Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer visited the home and provided an inspection and thorough estimate for the attic insulation project. To prevent energy loss and leaking from ice dams in the future, Henry suggested air sealing the attic floor and re-insulating it. DBS Foreman Nick Woods II lead the attic insulation crew.
Our attic insulation crew first removed the existing batting and loose insulation. They air-sealed the space with spray foam insulation and added a thick layer Tru-Soft™ cellulose afterward. This will, in turn, prevent warm air from escaping from the living space through the attic. Additionally, they built a scuttle cover from SilverGlo™ insulation in order to properly seal the attic from the rest of the home. This insulation method also prevents the space from heating up too much during the summer months.
The homeowners were happy with the work our insulation crew did and now have a solid solution to stand up to cold Minnesota winters.
This Minnetonka, MN home had a waterproofing system installed by DBS. On a routine service appointment by our Service Manager Jacob Nustad-Peluso, he and the homeowner discussed the drafty basement. Cold air was coming through the rim joist area in the basement, leading to cold floors on the main level of the home.
Nick Woods II and his insulation crew used closed-cell spray foam to seal the basement rim joists. This spray foam expands once applied to close gaps and cracks, providing a solid barrier against water and airflow. Insulating the rim joists in your basement or crawl space stops airflow of both cold air in the winter and warm, humid air in the summer.
The homeowners now have a more efficient home, saving money on heating and cooling bills!
DBS customers in Eden Prairie, MN recently purchased this 1970s home. They had several home improvement projects in mind but wanted to address their crawl space immediately so they contacted DBS for more information on our crawl space encapsulation service.
DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the work. He recommended crawl space encapsulation for the musty, dirt crawl space. Because this home has a slew of projects to get through, they decided to start with insulated the crawl space.
DBS Foreman Nick Woods II and his insulation team worked in this crawl space to install spray foam to the exterior walls of the crawl space. Spray foam expands upon application to fill gaps and cracks, preventing airflow and moisture from flowing freely into the crawl space.
The owners were happy with the work done and plan to complete their crawl space encapsulation with a vapor barrier in the near future.
