If a home's air vents are not properly sealed the hot or cold air being transported through it can escape before reaching the other rooms in the home. To solve this our Production Team sealed air leaks in the vents to make the home more energy efficient. This allows the air to reach rooms and makes the home more comfortable.
Crawl spaces like this one are not protected against moisture that can ruin the insulation. Sagging insulation makes a home less energy efficient and allows outside air into the home. During the spring this means that your home becomes cold at night and hot during the day. To solve this problem Complete Home Solutions suggests that the crawl space be sealed from the Earth and the insulation be reinstalled. This will keep the home more energy efficient.
It was obvious that this home in Laurel, MD was in need of additional attic insulation. One of our home comfort specialists recommended that additional attic insulation be installed in addition to air sealing the holes and cracks in attic. Our production crews installed additional attic insulation and sealed the holes and cracks in their attic to make the home more energy efficient.
This upgrade will save on heating and cooling costs to make this home more energy efficient and comfortable.
This homeowner was experiencing a lot of discomfort in their home. Hot and cold rooms were a constant problem. The solution? Upgrading the attic. No air sealing and deteriorated insulation (which is what we have here) are the perfect formula for an uncomfortable home. So, we need to air seal and apply new insulation to fix it. An example of how we air seal can be seen in the "after" picture here. The silver foam board sealed with caulk (covering that backwall) are an excellent way to seal air leaks nice and tight. The insulation that we installed is called "closed cell cellulose insulation." It has a great R-Value and works perfectly with the air sealing to form a thermal barrier for this home, making it comfortable for the homeowner.
Moriah called Complete Home Solutions with concerns about the colder temperatures in the 2nd floor bedrooms of her Chesapeake Beach, MD home. Our Home Comfort Specialist conducted a full energy audit to determine not only what was causing their uncomfortable temperatures, but any other efficiency improvements that could be made to the home to make the homeowner more comfortable and save them money on their monthly utility bill. One big factor in the colder 2nd floor temperatures was the lack of insulation in the attic of the home. With older cellulose insulation that was not high enough to cover the floor joist, it allowed the colder winter air in the attic to make its way into the home.
On the day of the install our Home Comfort Technicians air sealed any cracks that could be allowing air to move between the attic and the rest of the home before laying down a new layer of blown in cellulose. This process traps the cold air in the attic and traps the warmer air where it belongs, in your home.
The homeowner is now resting in comfort and has noticed a drop in their monthly utility bill from this project along with other small improvements our Specialist recommended during the Energy Audit.
