This attic had absolutely no insulation, leaving the rest of the house to suffer from heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer.  Dr. Energy Saver was able to install blown fiberglass insulation to a recommended R-value and a radiant barrier around the perimeter of the attic. This insulation will keep the warm air in during the winter months and the hot air out during the summer months.

Before and after in Wilmington, DE: Our client sought improved comfort in rooms with cathedral ceilings and warmer floors in winter. We removed old batt insulation, air sealed and insulated the attic with TruSoft™ stabilized cellulose, installed SilverGlo™ on walls and between floor joists, and removed moldy insulation from the crawl space ceiling. We also installed the CleanSpace™ Encapsulation System with Drainage Matting and SilverGlo™, and spray foamed the rim joist. The project was completed with the help of an Energize Delaware rebate!

   • TruSoft™ stabilized cellulose insulation was blown into the attic floor, reaching an R60 value (17 inches), significantly improving the home’s thermal resistance.
   • A layer of 4-inch SilverGlo™ insulation was added along the attic deck, boosting insulation and energy efficiency.
   • The attic’s scuttle landing was enhanced with a SuperPlatform™ and insulation dams, ensuring complete insulation coverage.
   • To reduce air leaks around the attic entry, we installed a David Lewis™ attic pull-down stair hatch cover, providing a tight seal.
2. Floor and Rim Joist Sealing:
   • The attic floor was air-sealed using ZypFoam™, ensuring all gaps and penetrations were tightly sealed to eliminate drafts.
   • Rim joists were sealed and insulated with spray foam, improving the warmth of the floors and preventing heat loss in the winter.

Rebates and Savings: The customer took advantage of the Energize Delaware rebate program, allowing them to save money on these essential home upgrades while boosting their home’s energy efficiency.

Outcome: As a result, the home now enjoys year-round comfort, with rooms that are warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer, and floors that stay cozy during colder months.
