We hired Brendan and his team after I had a huge problem with mold and humidity as a result of my last contractor not doing his job properly (for example when they replaced my insulation after a roof leak they bagged the old wet insulation and shoved it into the corners of my attic and told me they had properly disposed of it, they never installed vents in my roof despite me paying for them and it being in the contract to install them, etc.). The entire house had a musty odor I couldn't get rid of no matter how hard I tried, and the humidity was damaging the sheetrock upstairs and making the summertime absolutely miserable. I hated being in my own house. I was very reluctant to hire anyone after my first contractor screwed me over so badly, but I started having medical issues brought on by the mold and was encouraged to have it taken care of ASAP. Brendan had given us a rough estimate last year and we called him back to get another estimate and set up a gameplan.
He came up within a week after we called and spent almost 4 hours on a Saturday (which I really appreciate because I work 2 jobs Monday to Friday and couldn't miss work) thoroughly scoping out every detail of the house and developing a plan. He showed and explained everything he noticed that was an issue in a way my mom and I could easily understand and never rushed us. The videos and pictures he used as a teaching tool were also very helpful. Then we sat down and went through room-by-room everything that needed to be addressed and the pricing gamelan. The plan included things like properly resealing the attic, spraying the attic and basement with mold killer/preventative, fixing the sheetrock, installing ridge vents in the roof, etc. Originally I was overwhelmed with the amount of work that needed to be done to officially fix all the issues my previous contractor had caused, but I knew it needed to get fixed or my medical issues would get worse and decided to move forward. We discussed some payment options and gave an estimated working time frame of about 2 weeks, and said he could send his team up in a little over a week after that visit.
Not only did they start the job quickly, they also ended up finishing earlier than expected (about a week) because I was able to relocate myself and my pets to my mom's and gave his team all day access to the house. He later said that having all day access really helped expedite everything and they were able to work from 6 A.M. to 6 P.M. to get the job done. They are located in CT and I live in Clarksburg, MA (right below Vermont) so some of his team ended up staying in a hotel for the week which also helped. At one point I needed to grab something at the house and when I showed up I found Dentin and Juan sweeping the floors and packing up for the day. I was pleasantly surprised by how well they protected my floors and kept everything as clean as they could. They were both very friendly and personable, and I hadn't met Paulie in person at that point but he would call my mom with daily updates on the house and was pleasant to work with. They also document everything they do to your house with pictures/videos you can see throughout the day on their website and I thought that was very reassuring.
When the job was done we did a final walk through of the house to make sure I was satisfied with the work before finishing paying. They assured us if we were unhappy with anything during the walkthrough to let them know and they would address it immediately. Brendan and Paulie went through room by room again, showing us everything they did in person and with the pictures they took during the process. They explained their lifetime guarantee and gave documentation on everything they did in a folder to keep. I felt like I was taken care of and that is super important.
My house feels and smells sooo much better! No more trying to mask the musty, moldy attic smell with candles and running 2 dehumidifiers and fans upstairs 24/7. From the receptionists to the workers, everyone did a fantastic job and I am very happy. Thank you everyone!

I had my old attic insulation removed, mold treatment done, all the gaps air sealed, and new insulation blown in. It was done faster than I expected. Everything was kept clean with tarps and they vacuumed after, leaving the house cleaner than when they came. Everything that was being done that day was explained to me in the beginning so I knew what to expect. I plan on hiring them again in the future to fix up and insulate my basement
Also just had them install a sump pump and fix some cracks in the foundation

The previous Building Science Expert did not recommend this service when they insulated my attic. I want to mention that the previous "Expert" worked for Dr. Energy Saver under a different name. The new Owner/Production Manager knows what needs to be done. This work could have/probably should have been done when the attic was insulated 18 months ago. Mike and Josh came out on Wednesday to inspect the attic for the problem. They made recommendations, gave me an estimate and co-ordinated the job to be done on Friday (2 days before Christmas, mind you). They showed up on time, performed the job as described and cleaned up before they left. Thanks again, Josh & Mike!
