This homeowner in Suffield, CT called us hoping that we would be able to help him with his basement. His basement was very cold, and he wanted to prevent energy loss. It was early spring when he initially reached out to us, and the temperatures were quite cold. Cold winter air gets sucked into the home continually in winter. In summer, warm humid air enters the basement and causes condensation on cool floor, wall and duct surfaces. Results - Cold basement, cold floors on first floor, drafts, higher heating fuel costs, condensation in summer, higher electric costs for A/C.
We had the perfect solution for this customer. In this solution, we replace the door with an insulated exterior door. The proper framing is installed, followed by a new door with a locking knob. Result - warmer basement and floors over the basement, drier basement in summer, lower fuel and electric costs, less drafts, house easier to heat, more security.
This homeowner in Suffield, CT called us hoping that he would be able to get his crawl space insulated and encapsulated. He knew someone who had theirs done, and it made a big difference for their home. He was excited to get to work on it and knew the products and steps needed already. He knew that his crawl space was causing severe drafts, and had a rodent issue. His floors were also quite cold, his home was humid, and he wanted to be able to fix it.
We were able to help this customer! We utilized our CleanSpace™ crawl space encapuslation system. We started by installing SilverGlo™ foam board insulation to the walls of the crawl space. After that, we laid down dimpled drainage mat. We added our TerraBlock™ floor insulation on top of that. That is followed by installing our CleanSpace™ encapsulation liner. We finished by installing spray foam on the rim joist and over the sill plate. This keeps the humidity low, and the home much better temperature controlled. The homeowner is now excited to spend less on his energy bills and be much more comfortable in his home!
This homeowner in Suffield, CT called us hoping that we would be able to help him with his insulation. He approached us after a friend we had helped last year "raved" about us, and he was excited to have multiple things in his home done at once. One of the things he was intent on insulating was his basement's rim joist the way that we had at his friend's home. (The rim joist is the perimeter of the floor framing system along the exterior of the home). The homeowner had gotten an energy audit done, and he had spoken to a different contractor. He did not think the proposed solution (fiberglass batts) was sufficient based off of the friend's experience. He wanted to have spray foam, and he was ready to have it done right away.
We had the perfect solution for this customer! As he requested, we utilized two-part expanding spray foam. We spray this foam in the rim joist and over the sill plate. Insulating the rim joist in this way seals all air leaks -- filling in the cracks and gaps that are present there. This prevents outside air from getting into the home. The homeowner is now very happy, and he is much more comfortable in his home!
This homeowner in Deerfield, MA had been living with ineffective insulation and finally reached us when she realized it was not doing as good of a job insulating the home as it could have been.
We removed the old, soiled insulation and now with a fresh clean slate, we can go in and seal any air leaks that were previously buried under the batts of insulation, which did nothing to stop the the convective loop of heated air from inside the home. We then blew in 20 inches of our TruSoft cellulose, which over the following days settles down to 17 inches, or R70.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this home will be far easier to heat and keep comfortable this winter.
This homeowner in Cromwell, CT called us after being referred by another company who had been handling their mold remediation. The employees at that company recommended that the insulation said that ventilation needed to be added in order to prevent a reoccurence of the mold. They also recommended that the insulation be replaced. Our Home Comfort Specialist came out to the home in order to get a closer look at the attic. When he arrived, he discussed with the homeowner what their attic concerns were. In addition to the humidity and mold issue they were experiencing, they were also experiencing conditioned air and energy loss problems.
We had the perfect solution for this customer. We were able to replace the attic insulation with TruSoft™ cellulose insulation. We started by removing the batt insulation, putting it in large bags. We then went in and air-sealed around all of the points where air leaks up from the home to the attic. We did this using our Zypfoam™ spray foam. Once the atitc is air sealed, we used a long hose to blow in TruSoft™ cellulose insulation. TruSoft™ is amazing -- it does not burn, get moldy, or attract pests. The blown-in insulation fills all gaps and oddly shaped voids. The homeowner is now much more comfortable in his home!
